GRASS ROOTS Johnston County Arts Council administers the selection and awarding of Grassroots Arts Grants to local arts groups and non-profit organizations in support of projects that will culturally enrich local residents .

Artists SUPPORT GRANTSThe regional artist program awards grants ($200 - $1500) to local emerging and professional artists in all disciplines who are in need of financial support to pursue projects beneficial to their development as professional artists

SCHOLARSHIPSJCAC recognizes the importance of nurturing the creative spirit and supporting opportunities for young artists to pursue careers in the arts. In partnership with Johnston Community College, JCAC awards scholarships annually to assist local students studying in the arts field

ARTISTS-IN-THE-SCHOOLSA program that supports the placement of professional artist into the classrooms, grades k-12, for curriculum based performances, workshops and residencies in the genres of music, dance, writing, theater, visual arts, story telling, and multi-disciplinary arts.

MUSIC FOR THE lunch bunchSince 1985, Music for the Lunch Bunch has provided a series of free summer concerts held every Wednesday. Each concert begins at 12:15 PM. featuring local artists performing a variety of music.

JOHNSTON HEALTH ART EXHIBITThe Johnston County Arts Council, in partnership with Johnston Health and local adult and student artists, provide exhibits for Johnston Health facilities. Since its inception in 1996, this groundbreaking program has provided a venue for public display, while offering patients, parents, hospital staff, and visitors the opportunity to experience the healing power of art.

VISUAL ARTSIf you're shopping at the pottery or eating at Cracker Barrel during Chamber business hours feel free to come over to the chamber and take a look at the artworks of Peggy Wickham. The works are currently on display in the large conference room at the Triangle East Chamber of Commerce and the Texan Steakhouse in Smithfield.
