2024-25 Grassroots Arts Program Accepting Applications! The Johnston County Arts Council is now accepting applications for Grassroots Grants Arts Program subgrants through September 20, 2024.
Since 1977, the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program has provided North Carolina citizens access to quality arts experiences. Using a per capita based formula, the program provides funding for the arts in all 100 counties of the state through partnerships with local arts councils. The Johnston County Arts Council serves as the North Carolina Arts Council’s partner in awarding subgrants to local organizations for arts programs in Johnston County. Applications are available for non-profit organizations whose purpose is to promote and develop diverse cultural arts programming in Johnston County. Funding priority is given to qualified arts organizations, arts in education programs conducted by qualified artists, and other community organizations that provide arts programs in the county. Projects must occur between July 1, 2024 – June 15, 2025. Grant applications are evaluated by a diverse panel. Awards will be announced in early October.

Johnston County Arts Council administers the selection and awarding of Grassroots Arts Grants to local arts groups and non-profit organizations in support of projects that will culturally enrich local residents.
Johnston County Arts Council serves as the North Carolina Arts Council’s partner in awarding sub grants to local organizations for arts programs in Johnston County. The Grassroots Arts Program aims to enrich the cultural life of North Carolina’s communities through the support of local arts programming that provides opportunities for every resident to experience the arts.
Artist support grants
The artist support grant program awards grants ($200 - $1500) to local emerging and professional artists in all disciplines who are in need of financial support to pursue projects beneficial to their development as professional artists.
Previously funded projects have included attendance at professional development workshops and conferences, purchase of art equipment to aid in the production of artwork, production of new works and production of promotional materials, such as a portfolio or demo tape.
Grants are made possible through a five-county partnership including: Franklin, Vance, Warren ,Wake, and Johnston in collaboration with the North Carolina Arts Council.
