To Our Art Community:
As we continue to deal with COVID-19 across our community and entire nation, people are staying home to try to flatten the curve and prevent the spread of this virus. Our president and governor have asked us to use social distancing to help stop the virus from spreading, which is a major way to protect our family, friends, and community. It is essential that we do this to protect our health, but it is sad that we have had to cancel events and opportunities for the artists and the general public. Know that the Johnston County Arts Council will resume our activities as soon as it is safe to do so. Remember your creativity is not canceled. Use this time to share your art and talents with an online presence. Our Communication Committee has expanded the website to include a section devoted to our Local Artists. I encourage you to check it out, and send the committee jpeg of your work and information.
With so many things canceled, I encourage you to think of all the things - NOT CANCELED
Phone call or text to check on family and friends - NOT CANCELED
Special card in the mail to a person who might be sick or lost a loved one - NOT CANCELED
Being artistic in your work - NOT CANCELED
Being reminded of staying safe in our current situation - NOT CANCELED
Praying for our first responders, healthcare workers and others on the frontline - NOT CANCELED
Celebrating Easter (maybe in different ways this year) - NOT CANCELED
Enjoying art, concerts, church worship online - NOT CANCELED
Art will continue to give meaning to our lives even in these difficult times.
